Expansion Joint & Crack Filling

Anandh Infra undertakes expansion-joint sealing and concrete crack-filling work for building and infrastructure surfaces. Joints and cracks can allow water and debris to enter a concrete element and can affect its serviceability. The appropriate repair depends on the cause, movement, width, depth, moisture condition and structural role of the defect, so the work scope should be based on an inspection and the client’s approved repair detail.

Our team can prepare and clean the specified joint or crack, install the agreed backing or primer where required, and apply the specified sealant or repair material. This service covers the defined treatment scope; structural assessment or redesign must be provided by the project’s qualified engineer.

Joint and crack treatment process

  1. Inspect the area, map the visible defects and review available drawings and repair instructions.
  2. Confirm whether the defect is a movement joint, construction joint or crack and agree the treatment with the client or engineer.
  3. Prepare the joint to the approved width and depth using suitable tools.
  4. Remove dust, loose concrete, oil and other contaminants; allow the substrate to meet the material requirements.
  5. Install backing rod, primer or bond breaker if required by the selected system.
  6. Apply the specified sealant or repair compound and finish the surface as required.
  7. Protect the repair during curing and observe the product’s return-to-service requirements.

Material selection and limits

Sealant selection should account for expected joint movement, exposure, substrate, traffic, chemical contact, water exposure and the manufacturer’s installation limits. A flexible sealant is not interchangeable with a structural crack-injection or concrete-replacement system. Active leaks, recurring cracks, displaced concrete or cracks that may affect structural capacity require assessment by the client’s structural engineer before cosmetic or sealing work proceeds.

Useful project information

  • Photos and marked-up locations of joints or cracks
  • Approximate length, width and depth where known
  • Substrate type, exposure and water or chemical conditions
  • Any movement, leakage history or previous repair materials
  • Specified product, finish, access and area handover requirements

We coordinate preparation, application and protection with the site team and document the agreed scope. The expected repair outcome depends on the defect cause, substrate condition, selected materials and adherence to the approved method.
